CoNGO – Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the UN
CoNGO’s mission is to facilitate the participation of NGOs in the United Nations system. Among other objectives, the CoNGO aims to improve NGOs accessibility and presence at all levels of the UN, and to improve the dialogue between NGOs and the United Nations. CoNGO represents for Dianova the perfect platform to meet up and collaborate with recognized NGOs on issues of common interest. Dianova became a member of CoNGO’s Board of Directors in 2014.
UNESCO Liaison Committee
The NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee is an open forum primarily intended for NGOs in official partnership with UNESCO. The Committee actively supports NGOs to strengthen their relationships with UNESCO by the means of active participation in conferences, meetings and seminars. In addition, Dianova has been participating in UNESCO’s online surveys on various issues.
NGO Committee on the Status of Women
Dianova is an active member of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women (NGO CSW) in New York. The NGO CSW represents more than 100 organizations and individuals and its mandate is to advocate for gender equality and women empowerment with the United Nations member states. Each year the Committee organizes the NGO CSW Forum, a series of civil society events which takes place during the annual sessions of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in NY, with NGOs and individual activists from around the world.
Dianova is actively involved in the Planning Committee of the NGO CSW61 Forum, and for the fourth consecutive year it will co-sponsor a parallel event together with partner organizations in 2017.
NGO Major Group
The NGO Major Group (NGO MG) is one of the official stakeholder groups in the United Nations processes related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The NGO MG is tasked with facilitating the participation and enhancing the engagement of non-governmental organizations in the processes directly and indirectly related to the High Level Political Forum.
Dianova has been a member of the NGO MG since April 2017 and has been actively engaged in its advocacy activities to promote inclusive processes at the UN and to improve the implementation, monitoring and reporting processes of the SDGs.
RIOD – Ibero-american Network of NGOs Working in the Addiction Field
RIOD is a nonprofit umbrella organization which main role is to help connect Ibero-american addiction service providers and promote collaborative work through the exchange of best practices and experiences. Dianova International has relationships with RIOD through Dianova Spain which has been an active member of the Ibero-american network since 2011.
VNGOC – Vienna NGO Committee on Narcotic Drugs
Among other activities, the VNGOC aims to promote the diversity and contributions of NGOs within the United Nations system, to facilitate relationship-building between NGOs and the UN, as well as to help raise the voice of civil society NGOs by involving them in the policy-making process. Most of Dianova’s relationships between Dianova and the CND or UNODC are promoted through this platform.
Dianova International became a member of VNGOC in 2007 and a member of the organization’s Board of Directors from 2008 to 2015. Dianova Portugal also joined the network in 2008.
WFTC – World Federation of Therapeutic Communities
The objective of the WFTC is to widen the recognition and acceptance of the Therapeutic Community approach among health organizations and health delivery systems of international and national bodies. The WFTC also promotes experience- and best practice-sharing among TC professionals worldwide. Dianova is a member of the WFTC Board of Directors and attends biyearly world conferences on a regular basis.
NGO Committee on Migration, NY
The NGO Committee on Migration is a civil society platform to encourage the promotion and protection of migrants, refugees, stateless persons, internally displaced persons, trafficked persons, and their human rights. Representing over 50 organizations, the Committee has been instrumental in uniting civil society voices to advocate for justice for migrants at the United Nations and other relevant international forums.
Dianova has been a member since early 2016 and has since been active in the Subcommittee against Xenophobia and for Social Integration, planning and executing strategies and actions to end discrimination against migrants and to promote inclusive societies.
NGO Committee on Mental Health, NY
Dianova is part of the Executive Committee of the NGO Committee on Mental Health (CMH) in New York, for the term 2016 – 2017. The CMH is one of the thematic forums for civil society organizations in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The Committee fosters collaboration between NGOs from all parts of the globe, aiming to include mental health matters in the international agenda.
In this field, the CMH has played an important role in coordinating advocacy activities and in hosting monthly events on crosscutting topics to address mental health issues in relation to broader contexts, such as poverty, violence, youth, migration, and human rights.
