During the 2nd plenary session, Dianova will present the benefits of choosing quality guidance in treatment
The 27th IFNGO World Conference (International Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations for the Prevention of Drug and Substance Abuse) will be held in Macao from November 6 to 8 at the Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel. The theme of the conference will be “Understanding addiction, treatment, prevention and harm reduction policy”.
IFNGO was incorporated in 1981 on the basis of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration, whose first objective is “to reach a concerted, harmonious and fruitful relationship among all non-government organisations, regionally and internationally, pursuing activities needed to prevent and control drug abuse, and thus consolidate even more efforts to achieve a drug-free society”.
IFNGO brings together non-governmental organisations engaged in drug abuse prevention, treatment or harm reduction, from all regions of the globe. The Federation has the following affiliations with international organisations:
- Special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council
- In a working relationship with the World Health Organization
- Admitted to the International Labour Organization as a non-governmental organisation
- In a working relationship with UNESCO
The 27th IFNGO conference will host many prestigious speakers, for example Dr. Joan Goulao, father of the decriminalisation policy carried out successfully by the Portuguese Government, Chairman of SICAD (Intervention in Addictive Behaviours and Addictions – Portugal) and Chairman of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction – and Ann Fordham, Executive Director of the International Drug Policy Consortium, in charge of advocacy for drug policy reform focusing on human rights.
Quality orientation, by Dianova International
On November 7 at the 2nd plenary session, Rui Martins, representing Dianova International, will present the benefits of choosing treatment quality guidance –Dianova’s experience in Portugal.
Since 2005, our association in Portugal has had ISO 9001 certification in addiction treatment and rehabilitation. Because this system is in place, the association now has more efficient services, more flexible internal processes and a more motivated professional team. For the therapeutic community of Quinta das Lapas (Dianova Portugal’s principal residential treatment centre) this has resulted in a 100% user satisfaction and recommendation rate for the last five years.
