Encouraging Integration into the Labour Market

In Portugal, Dianova implements skills training courses for disadvantaged populations

Training programme

Beneficiaries will participate in certified training programmes aimed at acquiring the social and professional skills that encourage integration into the labour market.

Co-funded by the European Social Fund, Portugal 2020 and the Operational Program for Employment and Social Inclusion (POISE), Dianova’s new project aims to offer a qualifying training programme to 1,003 participants from western region of Portugal, in areas identified as essential to the labor market: management and administration, social work and orientation, secretarial work and administrative work.

Dianova’s 15-month project will contribute to the achievement of POISE’s goal of reaching out to over 250,000 people from disadvantaged groups, including long-term and short-term unemployed people with low skill level. Beneficiaries will participate in certified training programmes aimed at acquiring the social and professional skills that encourage integration into the labour market.

This way, Dianova also reinforces its contribution to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1No poverty – One of the indicators of poverty is the low level of schooling of the population, which does not allow them to access a decent job. This project, in addition to the commitment to supporting the employability of its beneficiaries, allows the capitalization of training units that attribute credits and confer learning that validate skills in Recognition, Validation, and Certification of Skills processes, allowing the eventual certification in a new teaching cycle.

Quality education

SDG 4 – The qualifying plans of this project enable an increase in schooling through Recognition, Validation and Certification of Skills processes and allows access to quality training for people facing greater social vulnerability, as is the case of long-term unemployed, beneficiaries of the Minimum Insertion Performance and people who are excluded from the job market due to their low or inadequate qualifications.

SDG 5Gender equality – This project is concerned with and committed to Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities. All the training modules include a 1-hour focus on this topic in which rights will be discussed, stories will be shared and complete equality will be promoted, empowering women. Another characteristic of the project is that 50% of the vacancies are reserved in each training itinerary for the sub-represented gender in each training area. An example of this is having managed to demystify that only women work in the area of Geriatrics, as 5 men are already enrolled in the qualifying itinerary of the Family Support Assistant Course and the Community. On the other hand, we have 12 women enrolled in a qualifying itinerary that is primarily male-dominated (Administrative Technician). All training materials will use inclusive language in both wording and imagery.

Dianova invites all associated entities to be part of this project through active participation in a workgroup on Facebook. Soon we will provide you with the information so that you can join this initiative!
