Forum on the Prevention of Violence

The forum “Lowering levels of violence, living together in peace, experiences promoted by the European Union in Latin America” took place in Caracas (Venezuela) on October 3rd

At the invitation of the European Union Delegation in Venezuela, Dianova, represented by Mr. Jordi Alos (President, Dianova Uruguay), participated by sharing the experience of the project “Empowerment of Education and Youth Centres  in Preventing Emotional and Relational Violence”. The project was managed by the Dianova Uruguay Foundation and the Dianova Spain Association, and promoted and co-financed by the European Union in Uruguay through the “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights” (EIDHR).

The event was opened by Her Excellency Ambassador Aude Maio-Coliche, Head of the European Union Delegation in Venezuela, and His Excellency Mr. Samuel Mocada, Deputy Foreign Minister for Europe of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

The other speakers were Ms. Nahiely Mendoza (La Casa Tomada Project – El Salvador), Mr. Roberto Simoncelli (Progettomondo.mial– Bolivia), Mr. Pablo Fernández “A toda Vida Venezuela” Mission / Venezuelan Government Program), Mr. Fernando Pereira (CECODAP – Venezuela), Mr. Roberto Patiño (Caracas mi convive – Venezuela) and Mr. Rafael Ramírez Mesec (UNICEF – Venezuela).

The forum included a space for open dialogue, and the concluding remarks and closing of the event were conducted by the Her Excellency Ambassador Aude Maio-Coliche, Head of the European Union Delegation in Venezuela, who stressed the importance of carrying out actions with impact, replicability and sustainability that help reduce violence in all its forms, and urged civil society organizations to submit their projects in response to the European Union’s calls.

The event was attended by numerous representatives of Venezuela’s civil society, as well as ambassadors and representatives from various diplomatic missions.
