On February 5, the Dianova Nicaragua Foundation was awarded the sum of $ 121,321 donated by the Government of Japan for the construction of two classrooms and a science lab in the Esther del Rio – Las Marías education center. The donation will help provide quality education services to the 300 boys and girls from the Carazo region’s low-income rural communities admitted every year.
The cooperation agreement was signed by His Excellency, the Ambassador of Japan, Mr. Masaharu Sato and Mr. Rafael Guerrero, Director General of the Dianova Nicaragua Foundation. Following the signing of the agreement, Mr. Sato officially presented the check at a ceremony held at the Embassy of Japan in Nicaragua.
The ambassador then addressed the participants to emphasize how important it was for the government of his country to support projects that generate a quality education, a key element of the development in any country. He also mentioned that these projects were designed to strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the peoples of Japan and Nicaragua.
Sato then conversed with Mr. Guerrero to express his interest in the commitment of the Dianova foundation to support disadvantaged rural families and expressed the desire to soon pay a visit to the Esther del Rio – Las Marías education facility. Mr. Guerrero told him that the doors were open any time.
In conclusion of the ceremony, Dianova representatives thanked Ms. Chiako Narita and Mr. Filadelfo Alemán, respectively coordinator and technical advisor to the Embassy of Japan’s community projects’ subsidy program for their ongoing support and dedication throughout the application and selection process.
