RIOD to Launch Prevention Project for Migrants

RIOD presents a a prevention project for Latin American immigrants in Spain

RIOD (Ibero-american Network of drug addiction treatment NGOs) presents a project to develop a prevention strategy for immigrants of Latin American origin resident in Spain.

The objective of this initiative is to educate, inform and raise the awareness of immigrant-serving NGOs' and charities' staff members and volunteers.

As mentioned in a previous newsletter, RIOD answered a call for a tender from the Directorate General of Migrations of the Spanish government's Ministry of Employment and Social Security,  and financed by the European Fund for the Integration of third country nationals.

The project consists of an awareness, information and education campaign on substance abuse associated risks among Latin American immigrants in Spain.

The project aims to provide training for staff members and volunteers of immigrant-serving NGOs about the risks associated to substance abuse and the existing resources in this field. In addition, the project will include an information guide for the Latin American immigrant community in Spain.

In 2011, RIOD had successfully implemented a similar project which, at that time, had been very well received and positively appraised by its beneficiaries.

Upon receiving approval, the program will take place between January 1st and June 30th, 2015
